NC Food Waste Task Force PAGE UPDATED: 10/28/2006
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance, and the Carolinas Composting Council are sponsoring a seminar dedicated to food waste diversion on from 10a-2p on Nov. 20.

The purpose of this event is to (1) outline the current state of food waste in North Carolina, (2) identify opportunities to expand food waste diversion, and (3) establish a statewide task force to help implement and encourage food waste diversion practices.

This four hour seminar will include presentations and views from all aspects of the food waste management hierarchy.

Participants will hear from the perspectives from the U.S. EPA, the food bank, animal feed and grocery industries, waste haulers, composters and regulatory agencies. The target audience is solid waste managers, recycling coordinators, facility managers, waste haulers, commercial and municipal composters, local and state government officials, and food waste generators.
